An All-Encompassing Guide to Halo Infinite Armor

You can fight for it, buy it, or find it, but whatever you do, you must differentiate your Spartan character from others when you play Halo Infinite. The new game options allow you to customize and make your Spartan character more your own and different from that of other players

What is the Spartan? He is the warrior character you play in the Halo Infinite game. When Halo was first released, the Spartan’s armor was always greyish green. It never changed, and all players used the same type of Spartan with the same kind of armor. However, the new graphics and the new multiplayer game mode of Halo Infinite required designers to add customization options to the Spartan armor so that players could identify each other. Players can now differentiate themselves from others using custom-colored or designed armor pieces.

What Makes Halo Infinite Different?

Halo Infinite is the new 343 Industries game and a part of the Xbox game series. It is one of the most popular game sagas on the market today. The first Halo game arrived on the market in the late 1990s and immediately became popular with gamers. Since then, other Halo games have emerged, and although they were popular, they were never quite as enthralling as that very first game. Now, Halo is winning gamers over again with the new Halo Infinite. The graphics, intensely interesting backdrops, scenery, and the variety of options players have to personalize their Spartan character make the Halo Infinite game so popular.

In Halo 3 and Halo 5, the storyline became a bit blurred. Players didn’t fully understand what was going on all the time. Today, Halo Infinite tries to return to the original storyline and impress gamers with its improved graphics, bigger guns, more impressive firepower, and the ability to customize the Halo Infinite armor. The Spartan characters are the ultimate super-soldiers, so players love the option of showing just how powerful their playing character is by being able to customize and change out the armor for amazing colors, options, and styles.

Types of Armor

343i offers many different armor pieces and options. Adding armor pieces to your armor hall was a feature that began in Halo 5, but it didn’t become as popular as it is now with the colorful Halo Infinite armor options and the way they stand out against the game’s backdrop. So what armor customization options are available? Many parts of the Halo Infinite armor have customizable options.

What Makes Armor Customization in Halo Infinite Different?

Armor customization has become important in Halo Infinite because of the improved graphics and the multiplayer game mode. A character’s armor now stands out, the colors pop, and the armor style draws the attention of every player. To make the game more interesting and allow players to identify each other’s Spartan characters, the game designers created the Halo Infinite armor customization feature. By playing through certain tiers, purchasing special armor kits that include all armor pieces (chest plate, shoulder pads, visor, helmet, wrist guards, knee pads), or winning promotions from an affiliate brand, you can customize your character and make them different from other Spartans.

Because this customization has become more important in Halo Infinite, you should be aware of the different options and know where to find new pieces of Halo Infinite armor early on in the game. You don’t want to miss any armor coatings, pieces, or patches hidden throughout the Halo campaign. Collect all of the interesting articles hidden on different levels or at the end of special challenges. However, if you can’t wait to get through the game campaign and want to find a certain type of armor, you can buy armor kits in the Halo store. Whichever way you add your armor, you first must realize that the cheapest and most rewarding way to find these armor pieces is in the campaign.

Good Reasons to Customize with Halo Infinite Armor

Sure, customized armor pieces are purely cosmetic. There is no other real benefit to having Halo Infinite armor cores, skins, emblems, and accessories; however, these nice little rewards give your Spartan an interesting and customized look. There are plenty of great reasons to collect the various armor pieces, but the primary reason is that you’ve earned them. You can show solidarity with your team or, if you want, flaunt your campaign achievements when you use different Halo Infinite armor options. If anything, your new armor will make you stand out and look more adventurous in a multiplayer game.

Armor Customization Is Fun

The main reason to play Halo Infinite is that it is fun, and so is finding different Halo armor lockers. It isn’t critical to the game’s play and doesn’t affect how you play, but collecting these pieces and seeing what you can find is a good time. Halo Infinite armor customization is a little more important in the Halo Infinite multiplayer mode. Here, all players take control of their Spartans; however, because you are playing with other players who all have similar Spartans, you want to differentiate yourself and allow your team members and the opposition to identify your character.

What Are The Customization Options?

You can find separate armor pieces when playing the campaign, and as you collect them, you will notice that when placed on the Spartan, they form an entire armor kit. However, there are also complete kits you can acquire all at once through the Halo Waypoint store when you participate in a promotion or a special campaign. You can interchange the helmets, visors, chest pieces, shoulder pads, knee pads, wrist pads, and gloves. There are also other utility accessories. Aside from changing out a single piece of armor, you can also change all of the armor pieces in one go with a full armor kit, or you can color your existing armor with one of the cool armor coatings.

Armor Kits

The armor kits sold in the store are themed armor pieces and include the helmet, visor, shoulder pads, utility belt, chest plates, knee pads, and wrist pads. Unlike the game levels where you have to collect individual armor pieces, the armor kits in the store are complete. You won’t often find an entire set in the campaign-level gameplay, not unless you complete an entire challenge and receive an armor kit as a reward. Once you purchase armor kits, they will automatically go into your armor hall where you can mix and match pieces as you wish.

There are many different themed kits in the store, and they are always changing. Just a few examples are the Zvezda Armor Set with a bleached bone armor style, the Navi Kit with its bright yellow and black accessories, and the Faze Clan which is a vibrant red, silver, and black kit.  The armor kits in the Halo store change monthly, so they only have limited availability. Visit the Halo store every Tuesday as that is when new kits become available.

Coatings

The armor coatings are colors that you can use to change your Spartan’s look. The coating is just a color change for the armor your Spartan already has. The colors, textures and patterns are varied and can make your Spartan seem more imposing. The idea of adding these coatings solved two problems for 343i: they allowed players to identify themselves better and enabled team members to choose a particular color for their team. A few basic coatings are included with the game, and the number of these options is growing. The coatings are similar to a paint job — coatings simply change the color of a basic armor piece, which can be red, green, gun metal grey, camouflage, or a combination of colors. As we mentioned before, these coatings are in the lockers located throughout the game, or you can win them through promotions, special challenges, or buy them from the store.

What Are The Different Armor Pieces You Can Customize?

The Spartans have different types of armor pieces which can all be interchanged or customized with a certain theme style. The most important of these changes include the helmets, chests, and shoulder pieces.

Helmets & Visors

The helmet is the Spartan’s head covering. You can change its color and style. You can find great options in the Halo Infinite game. Add some interesting helmet attachments or a part to the helmet, like a visor. Visors are an additional armor element that protects your Spartan’s eyes. They also come in different colors and styles and sit just under the helmet, so if you can’t find a full helmet to exchange, you can still give your Spartan an interesting look when you find a visor in an armor locker on a campaign tier.

Chests

The chest plate is a beautiful attachment for the chest but not an essential piece of armor. It can be coated or changed out for other colors or styles.

Shoulder Pads

Players can customize and change both left and right shoulder pads. Some players use a different color for each shoulder to make their Spartan a bit different.

Other Customization Armor PIeces

Other pieces that can be changed include wrist and glove armor. Change the colors or styles for a new decorative look.  You can also change the utility belt that sits at the Spartan’s waist and was known as Hips in other games. It is not an essential element, but you will want the pieces you find or win in other campaigns to adorn your player.  Another interchangeable piece is the knee pad. The Spartan knee pads are another way to decorate your playing character. Again the knee pad is not an essential piece, but it is a basic armor piece that you can change at will.

How to Find Armor in The Game

Put your Spartan in high-tech glossy red, glass blue-green, or even modern emerald green. It’s possible when you unlock different options of the Halo Infinite armor. All you have to know is how to unlock the pieces and coatings. So here is a little hint. Armor pieces can be unlocked when you find the lockers in the Battle Pass (the gameplay). The problem is that many players don’t know where they are or how to find them, especially at the early levels. Here are a few tips on how to find them.

Mjolnir armor lockers have armor that you can unlock throughout the campaign. These pieces include emblems, weapon charms, and nameplates. Use your scanner to find the armor lockers as you work through the level. Halo Infinite uses the famous battle pass formula, a tier-based approach, to progress through the game. The system is similar to that of Fortnite or Call of Duty. Face the weekly and daily challenges available in the game to find the armor pieces you want. Other bonuses also offer armor customization options. There are over 100 tiers in the game, so there are plenty of opportunities to win.

The key to finding different armor pieces and accessories is to check your scanner frequently. Pull the scanner up by pressing down on the controller D-pad. Once you do, the feature highlights weapons, lockers, and crates where armor coatings and rewards could be.

Weapons and interactive items will appear in the scanner as blue. Spartan cores, explosive coils, and control terminals appear in yellow. With the scanner, you will also be able to see current objectives, so it is important to use your AI scanner early in the game.

Buy Armor in The Halo Infinite Shop

The Halo Infinite shop also has armor kits you can purchase. Each kit costs about 1,000 credits, equivalent to $10. There are several types of kits you can buy in the store. Complete armor kits in the store come with the helmet, visor, chest coating, and shoulder and knee pads.

Check frequently as the Halo Infinite shop refreshes every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. PT. You can look on Tuesday and give yourself some time to consider the purchase, but remember, it might be gone by the following week. The good news is that new items could be added weekly, so you may want to log on weekly to see what is available.

If you want to buy from the Halo Infinite Shop, you’ll need to purchase credits from the Microsoft Store or Waypoint. Credits are only good in the Shop and only for cosmetic armor items.

Find Armor in Special Seasons or Campaigns

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer campaign is free to play, but special campaigns cost money. These campaigns offer special armor kits and cores as a reward for getting through the campaign or a season. Many of these events have a limited time to play, so they are not always available. However, the benefit of getting armor rewards from these campaigns is that when you play in multiplayer mode, you showcase your gameplay abilities and demonstrate that you have completed a certain event and earned your colors.

For example, one of the most popular armor kits is the Yoroi armor. This kit was given as a reward for completing the first season of Halo Infinite back in 2021 in the Tenrai event. The multiplayer event took place for a few months at the end of 2021, and players could complete several challenges. Players who reached Level 5 were rewarded with the Yoroi armor core. To get all the samurai skins, you had to reach Rank 25 and get up to Rank 30 to acquire all the attachments to go with it.

If you didn’t play this special event in Season 1, you didn’t earn the Yoroi armor; for now, there is no way to acquire it. However, there are other seasonal events where you can receive different types of armor throughout the campaign play.

Armor in Promotional Campaigns

Promotional campaigns from affiliated brands also offer armor as a reward for purchasing a certain amount of product. Most recently, Halo Infinite partnered with a nail polish company. As a reward for buying a certain amount of OPI nail polish, you could unlock armor coating color to match the nail polish. Other promotions include Target promotions, Kroger, Kellogs, Nerf, and Esports.

How To Customize Armor

Once you have picked up a few customization options, modifying your Spartan’s appearance is easy. Cycle over to the “Customize” option and choose the Armor Hall. Once you enter the Armor Hall, you will see the varying upgrades available for the armor cores. Here you will see the essential core options and any armor cores you have won or purchased.

Final Thoughts

Halo Infinite is changing the Halo scene again. 343 has retaken the storyline and fills gamers in on their mission and why they are doing what they are doing. The idea is to fill in the gaps in the storyline, which became a bit blurred in Halo 5. As such, the scenery in Halo Infinite became much more intense, the colors are vibrant, and the gameplay intensified. Halo Infinite has given players more options and ways to identify with their characters through the armor customization feature to add more value to these new features.
